PageLens
A free AI website-audit tool. Enter a URL and Gemini returns a scored report across UX, SEO, accessibility, performance and content, with fixes ranked by priority.
The problem
Small business owners and freelancers often know their website could be better but not where to start, and full audits are expensive or written for developers.
PageLens gives a quick first read in plain English, with no sign-up: an overall score, category scores and a prioritised list of fixes.
What I built
- Structured AI reports
- Gemini returns JSON that must match a response schema: a summary, an overall score, five category scores with verdicts, strengths, and 6–10 recommendations, each with a category and priority.
- Prioritised fixes
- Recommendations are sorted high, medium, low so the most important change comes first, and written for site owners rather than developers.
- Share and export
- Every audit has its own URL, reports can be copied as Markdown, and a branded PDF can be downloaded, generated with react-pdf.
Technical decisions
- 01
Schema-constrained output
Asking for JSON against a fixed schema, then clamping scores to 0–100, means the report UI never has to guess at the model's format.
- 02
A model fallback chain
If a model is overloaded, rate-limited or retired, the request moves to the next model in a list of aliases instead of failing.
